(IANS) Anne Hathaway revealed that she struggled with serious vision problems for nearly a decade, saying she was “legally blind” in one eye due to an early onset cataract. In a podcast interview, the Popcast appearance, she shared that the condition affected her from her early 30s to 40s, making her left eye vision significantly impaired. The The Devil Wears Prada actress explained that cataracts caused cloudy vision, impacting daily life until she eventually underwent surgery. She said she did not realise how much it had affected her until her vision was restored, adding that it helped calm her stress and improve her well-being. Hathaway expressed gratitude for her restored sight, calling it a “miracle” and reflecting on how modern treatment options made recovery possible.

SHILLONG, May 24: The State BJP on Sunday criticised the âCJP,â describing it as a politically motivated campaign designed to create unrest and mislead the youth of Meghalaya through social media.
State BJP general secretary Wankitbok Pohshna alleged the platform is being projected as a âGen-Z movementâ despite having deeper political motives.
âThe so-called CJP is nothing more than a political stunt camouflaged as a Gen-Z movement. Its sole purpose is to create unrest and divert the attention of our youth from constructive engagement,â Pohshna said.
He further alleged the campaign was promoted online by vested interests through selective interpretations of observations made by the Chief Justice of India to influence and confuse younger audiences.
According to the BJP leader, social media is being used to spread a âsinister agendaâ aimed at exploiting youthful sentiments for disruptive activities rather than productive participation.
Pohshna maintained that the CJP does not represent a genuine political movement, claiming it is merely an âinternet stormâ that will eventually fade. âThis entity is not a political party but an internet storm â one that will vanish as quickly as it appeared,â he said.

SHILLONG, May 24: While the MDA government touts its “Education Revolution,” its own ally, the BJP, has joined the Opposition in sounding the alarm over Meghalaya’s rock-bottom national ranking, exposing a deepening crisis where “paperwork” is reportedly replacing “teaching” in the state’s crumbling classrooms.
The latest Performance Grading Index (PGI) released by the Union Ministry of Education has placed Meghalaya in the 401-460 score bracketâthe lowest tier in the country. The report card identifies systemic failures across learning outcomes, infrastructure, governance, and teacher training.
State BJP general secretary Wankitbok Pohshna on Sunday called for an urgent all-party meeting involving coalition partners and stakeholders. The move is seen as a significant “vote of no confidence” in the Education Department’s current trajectory.
Pohshna stated the ranking is a clear signal to overhaul the system. The BJP is pushing for a “Learning Recovery Mission” to address academic gaps and the development of “model schools” that provide basic necessities like sanitation and stable infrastructure, particularly in remote regions.
The party also called for greater transparency in school administration through regular audits and community monitoring, rather than relying on current governance models.
Congress slams âpolicy by press releaseâ
Meanwhile, the Congress launched a scathing attack on the government, alleging that a lack of genuine reform is costing the state “another generation.”
Congress leader Manuel Badwar said the state continues to slide despite years of government “interventions” and PR-heavy announcements. He accused the administration of rushing the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to “please Delhi” without conducting the necessary groundwork. (Contd on P-7)
